Our vision: ELSO will be the premier organization providing education, training, research, and data management for the advancement of extracorporeal life support throughout the world.
The Robert H. Bartlett Research Fund supports research in extracorporeal support techniques and technology. Dr. Bartlett is known best as the 'Father of ECMO'. Dr. Bartlett is the founder of ELSO and Board of Director, Emeritus; Professor Emeritus of Surgery at Michigan Medicine, past Program Director of Michigan Medicine's ECMO program.
The Curt Froehlich Education Award is named in honor of the former ELSO Chair of Logistics & Education. Dr. Froehlich's appointment was distinguished by a selfless devotion to the pursuit and advancement of ECMO education both locally and internationally. In honor of his commitment, and to expand ECMO education globally, the Curt Froehlich Education Award was established to support individuals with limited financial resources who are committed to medical education and to improving ECMO care. The Curt Froehlich Education Award covers the cost of registration to an ELSO educational activity and up to $1,000 to aid with education costs. This is an annual award.
